I admit it, I’m a product junkie.
I have been for as long as I can remember, probably as long as I’ve been able to buy my own products. There’s some kind of thrill that I get from buying brand new products at the drugstore or department store that I just love and then going home to use them for the first time. I like to read reviews online, see what’s most popular or what “works” for people, and even just go into the store and pick something completely random (this doesn’t always work out in my favor, but it’s fun and I’ve found some of my favorites that way)! There have been some products that have just stuck with me, though, and I wanted to share with you all what they are. Because I do switch up the products I use so much, I had a hard time even finding ones in my bathroom that I’ve stuck with for longer than a couple of months, but when I broke down what I actually use daily it became very apparent that I’m changing my ways!
OGX Argan Oil & Shea Butter Moisture Restore Weightless Oil: The touch. The smell. The feel. I haven’t used a different hair oil since I bought this years (yes, I said YEARS) ago. I bought this one small bottle over two years ago! It cost me a whopping $5.00 at Wal-Mart so really, I’ve spent less than $2.50 a year on this one bottle to get the best smelling and softest hair ever. I like to use moisture restoring hair products as I feel my hair can get a little dry at times with the amount of coloring and heat styling I’ve done since my early teenage years, and this does the trick. I tend to use just one pump after I heat-style my hair. I stay away from my roots but rub the oil over my hands, run my fingers through my strands and focus on rubbing it into my hands. Once I’m done, I use the remainder of my oil-greased hands to tame flyaways! This oil leaves my hair silky smooth and I can definitely tell a difference using it after heat-styling vs. not. I am a big fan of OGX products so it was not a surprise that I’d like this oil, and I plan to get another bottle once I run out of this one (in the next couple years, probably!).
Bare Minerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 – Medium: I was introduced to Bare Minerals so long ago, I can’t even remember how old I was or how I found out about it. All I know is I have not used another powder since, and I am totally in love. The picture above shows the shade Medium Beige, as I tried out a new shade for the summer, but I typically purchase Medium. Not only is the application of this powder light, but it leaves my skin looking like a doll’s. You can run your finger across your cheek and you won’t be taking off a finger-full of caked makeup with it. I have rosacea and although this powder foundation isn’t full coverage, I have way more confidence with a quick swipe of this over my cheeks. I am a big advocate of making sure you wash off all makeup before you go to sleep at night, and (not that I do this and don’t recommend anyone making a habit of this) I would honestly feel comfortable going to sleep with this powder on, sans washing. This is one product I will continue to use, probably forever!
Jergens Daily Moisture lotion: I have probably tried almost every lotion on the market just for the sake of trying them, and this brand is one I’ve stuck with. It’s thick (which I like in a lotion), doesn’t have a strong scent, and gets the job done where adding moisture is concerned. Two thumbs up!
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: I’ve always struggled with mascara. I am very particular with how mascara looks on my eyelashes, mainly because I feel like mascara can completely change the look you’re going for. I despise spidery and clumpy lashes and instead, prefer just a simple extra coat of black… some lengthening and added volume don’t hurt either. I love how easy this mascara applies, how it gives a little length and volume to my lashes, lasts ALL day, and isn’t a complete bitch to take off at the end of the day. Although it’s a little on the pricey side being a higher-end brand, I consider it worth it as any drugstore mascaras (minus Maybelline’s New York Great Lash mascara) do not compare.
Moroccan Oil Heat Styling Protection: This heat protection spray has been my go-to for years, and has lasted me that long, as well! I bought it at my stylist’s and haven’t looked back. I don’t heat-style my hair too often, but when I do, I spritz this all over my damp/dry hair before blow-drying, curling or flat-ironing and it leaves my hair smooth and smelling great. I’ve tried several heat protector products that left my hair too sticky or greasy and even sort of crusty and hard… not this one. You can hardly tell you’ve sprayed anything on your hair! I sort of toss my hair, get a couple spritzes in and finish the job. It’s worth the investment, also, because like I said, I’ve had this for years and haven’t had to buy a new bottle yet!
What are your favorite products? I am always trying to find new products to try in all different categories. Or, are any of these products ones that you’ve tried that you just don’t feel the same about?
