Week 5 is hard.
Beyond hard, like harder than all 4 weeks combined. The distinct change in workouts from earlier weeks was enough for my limbs to burn and ache the next day, but I welcome it with open arms.
The biggest change hasn’t been the outside (although that has changed a little), but rather the fact that I look forward to getting my workouts done and enjoy fitting them like puzzle pieces into my day. I yearn for the burn! I find myself grunting and sweating all over my yoga mat, trying to get more reps in than the previous circuit. I’ve fallen in love with pushing myself, which has been something I’ve never been really great at – at least in this aspect.
What I haven’t been great at is doing my LISS. It has been a combination of not making time for it to go to my gym and spending most of my day sitting at my desk at work. After Week 4, LISS increases and I haven’t been keeping up with as much as I should have. Not only that, but I have had a strong desire to eat every piece of junk food in sight. Not that I have junk food in sight because we don’t really buy any, but with the combination of PMS and the SuperBowl I’ve had my fair share of “crap” this week. I’m not letting it get me down though; I’ve eaten super healthy meals otherwise and I am still on a high from actually WANTING to work out, hard!
Part of BBG is taking progress photos every 4 weeks to see how far you’ve come. I’m not crazy about the idea of posting them on my Instagram @spiritedtulip just yet. I don’t see a difference in my photos at all, which surprisingly hasn’t discouraged me. I’ve read online before that it takes 4 weeks of exercise for you to notice a difference in yourself, 8 weeks for your close friends and family to notice, and 12 weeks for the world to notice. This program is 12 weeks so we will see if “the world” will notice, but I can feel a difference in myself now that I’ve completed 4 weeks, for sure! My pants fit looser, I’ve noticed a major difference in the amount of IBS symptoms that I used to have (as in, they are practically non-existent now!) and I have more energy. I’ve also managed to SAVE money by spending less in groceries and wasting less food!
Let’s see what Week 6 will bring. I’m curious, interested, but mostly super excited!
